STATEMENT OF SENATE PRESIDENT PRO TEMPORE JINGGOY EJERCITO ESTRADA ON THE PRESIDENT'S 2025 STATE OF THE NATION ADDRESS

I'm very much elated with the State of the Nation Address of President Bongbong Marcos. He tackled all aspects--from defense, health, labor, and so on--but what struck me most was 'yung pangako niya sa ating mga kababayan, lalo na 'yung mga mahihirap, na libre ang pagpapagamot ng lahat ng pasyente sa lahat ng public hospitals. 'Yun ang pinakamaganda sa lahat ng kanyang sinabi.

What also amazed me was that sinabi niya doon sa mga nangwawalanghiya sa pondo ng kaban ng bayan, lalo na doon sa mga kasabwat sa mga flood control projects, kaya hanggang ngayon ay hindi pa rin nalulutas 'yung baha--hindi lang sa Metro Manila kundi sa buong Pilipinas. Kaya ako'y hanga na hanga sa speech ng ating Pangulo.

Mabigat ang mga naging pahayag ng Pangulo, lalo na sa kanyang crackdown laban sa korapsyon sa ilalim ng kanyang administrasyon, We expect that the flood control projects will be implemented properly. Effective implementation will help ease the burden of many Filipinos. Malinaw ang mensahe niya na dapat manaig ang transparency at integridad sa paggamit ng pera ng taumbayan.

Natutuwa rin akong marinig na maisasakatuparan ang ipinasa nating Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act na nagsisiguro na may evacuation centers sa bawat lungsod at munisipalidad. No less than the President himself said that he wants the full implementation of the law. 'Yun naman talaga ang layunin ng batas--na masiguro na may masisilungan ang ating mga kababayan sa panahon ng kalamidad at mabigyan sila ng proteksyon mula sa paulit-ulit na pagbaha at iba pang natural calamities.

It's also good to hear that the President is giving all-out support to our athletes. As a sports enthusiast myself, I believe this is long overdue. Hindi lang dapat pagkilala ang igawad natin sa ating mga atleta na nagbibigay-dangal sa ating bansa, kundi buong suporta rin sa kanilang ipinapamalas na dedikasyon upang magtagumpay sa kanilang larangan bilang mga kinatawan ng ating bayan.
